What we're all about.
The Buckeye Fencing Club is continuously branching out to new members, both beginners and those resuming the sport. We offer friendly instruction and all the gear you need to fence for a cheap $20 per quarter. We meet regularly throughout the quarter two (2) days a week for two (2) hours. Members are not required to come for any set amount of time, but we do ask you to come at least once a week, if at all possible.
Our Mission Statement.
Our mission is to support the university by continuously improving each sport club participant’s overall experience at The Ohio State University. We will promote personal growth and leadership, and provide the best available resources that allow participants the ability to attain their goals. Furthermore we will strive to maximize individual potential in a safe, accessible environment, while helping to build enduring traditions and creating strong bonds of friendship.
Meet our Officers!
Tom Stiteler
Job Title:
PresidentEmail:
stiteler.178@osu.eduBackground:
Known throughout most of the galaxy, Tom was born and raised on the core world of Coruscant. At the age of 17 he left home to live life as a drifter of sorts; a smuggler. For four years now, he and his trusty Wookie sidekick Tonsyllhockii have roamed through known space performing oft-immoral tasks. Oddly, Tom has recently discovered an ability to lift objects and control minds. Could you imagine? A smuggler Jedi with a Wookie sidekick? Awesome.
Mat Taormina
Job Title:
Vice PresidentEmail:
taormina.7@osu.eduBackground:
Mat started fencing at OSU about a year ago when he enrolled in Aviation. He mostly has experience with foil after taking Dr. Simonian's second fencing class and has been introduced to the basics of epee and sabre. When he's not busy begging for money for flight hours, he is usually enthralled by anything that can hack, slash, stab, or bludgeon.
David Lovano
Job Title:
TreasurerEmail:
lovano.4@osu.eduBackground:
Davidov was born deep in the Siberian wilderness. By the age of two he was fluent in Russian, German, English, and Canine. When he reached ten years of age he was an expert in Judo, swordsmanship, riflery, and the harmonica. At the age of twelve he took down the USSR, escaped to America, and changed his name. His current whereabouts are unknown. Also, he reads minds.
Kelsey Honious
Job Title:
SecretaryEmail:
honious.4@osu.eduBackground:
Kelsey began fencing just a year ago with the BFC, and while comfortable with foil, hopes to begin epee this year. She is a sophomore majoring in aerospace engineering, with a minor in meteorology and hopes to make a living as a fashion designer. If ever in need of her assistance, simply look for the girl with the outrageous socks.
Eric Paljieg
Job Title:
Website AdminEmail:
paljieg.1@osu.eduBackground:
Eric started fencing three years ago with the BFC, concentrating solely on foil fencing. He is currently in his forth year at OSU and is majoring in Medical Technology. Formerly holding an officer position, he was ousted in the Great Fencing Riots of early '09 and barely escaped with his life. At the moment he is content being the webmaster because, after all, that's where the real power is anyway.
Club Documents
We are currently in the process of finding/writing club documents. Anyone wanting to view the club consitution at present needs to go to the locked filing cabinet stuck in the disused lavatory in the cellar with the sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'.
